Frequently
asked questions.
What JobJar is, where the data comes from, and how fresh it stays.
Q·01What is JobJar?
JobJar is a USA job search tool that collects listings from 10 hiring sources — including Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Adzuna, and Hacker News — and displays them without algorithmic ranking or filtering. United States jobs only. Results are sorted by date posted. No sponsored listings.
Q·02Where does JobJar get its listings?
JobJar polls 10 sources three times per week: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, The Muse, Himalayas, Rostr, MBW, Adzuna, WAAS, and Hacker News. All listings are verified United States jobs.
Q·03How often are jobs updated?
JobJar polls each source three times per week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The index currently holds over 262,067 active USA listings. Jobs older than 60 days are automatically removed from the database.
How to narrow the index to the roles you actually want to see.
Q·04Are results filtered or ranked by an algorithm?
No. Jobs are displayed in reverse-chronological order — newest first. There is no relevance ranking, no promoted listings, and no algorithmic curation. You see everything, unfiltered.
Q·05How do I search for remote jobs?
Toggle the Remote filter in the search bar. This limits results to jobs classified as remote. The remote classification is applied automatically at ingest based on job metadata from the source.
Q·06How do I filter by experience level?
Use the Level filter to select Entry, Mid, Senior, Principal, or Executive. Seniority is automatically classified from job titles at ingest using AI. Some listings may not have a seniority level if it could not be determined.
What an account unlocks, and why the same role sometimes appears twice.
Q·07Do I need an account to use JobJar?
No. Browsing and searching is fully public — no account required. An account is only needed to save jobs to your Jar or mark them as Applied.
Q·08What is ‘Your Jar’?
Your Jar is your personal saved-jobs list. You can save any job listing and mark it as Applied to track your application progress. Access it via the Jar link in the header.
Q·09Why does the same job appear more than once?
The same position may be listed across multiple sources — for example, a role posted on Greenhouse that also appears on Adzuna. Each listing from each source is stored separately, so duplicates can occur.
How big is the index, at any given moment?
Q·10How many jobs does JobJar have?
The database currently holds over 262,067 active USA job listings across all 10 sources, updated 3x per week.
